Icons
of the West by Michael D. Greenbaum
is by far one of the best books ever written on Frederic Remington
bronze Sculptures. If you are interested in learning about
the different methods Remington used to cast his great works
or just interested in learning more about a certain bronze
or how to tell the difference between an original and a reproduction.
This book will be one of your best tools. We love using this
as a reference for any bronze that we want to learn more about.
Mr. Greenbaum has done an excellent job in recording the history
of each bronze done by Remington, including information about
foundries, numbers in edition, changes made to molds and much
more. There are many comparitive photos that will show all
of the changes in detail on original bronzes during Remington's
lifetime and his struggle to keep the quality of his work
with Roman Bronze Works. This book includes data collected
from EDS testing on most Remington bronzes. It also contains
over 36 pages of comprehensive list of located castings by
number and piece. Readers give this book a 5 star rating.
